02/02/22 - Creative Writing Workshops

Creative Writing Workshops image

Central Library Letterkenny are looking for volunteers for their Fighting Words creative writing workshops which will start in 2022.

What is Fighting Words?

Established in Dublin in 2009 by Roddy Doyle and Séan Love, Fighting Words is hugely successful creative writing programme which aims to help children and young people to discover and harness the power of their own imaginations and creative writing skills. Now operating in locations all over the island of Ireland, Fighting Words is coming back to Donegal

While introducing children and young people to the magic of writing, Fighting Words is also about something much broader and more inclusive. It is about using the creative practice of writing and storytelling to strengthen our children and teenagers to be resilient, creative and successful shapers of their own lives.

How Does It Work?

Fighting Words offers free two-hour workshops to classes of primary school children. The class starts a story as a group and each student writes their own individual ending!

Who Can Volunteer at Fighting Words?

Anyone can be a Fighting Words volunteer tutor - from 3rd level students to retirees and everyone in between, regardless of what you do (you don’t have to be a writer or a teacher!).

If you enjoy working in a creative environment and are a good listener, you are welcome to volunteer. Volunteering is flexible and fun, with no minimum commitment required.

Tá Leabharlann Lárnach Leitir Ceanainn ag lorg oibrithe deonacha le haghaidh a gcuid ceardlanna scríbhneoireacht chruthaitheach Fighting Words a thosóidh in 2022.

Cad é Focail Troid?

Bunaithe i mBaile Átha Cliath in 2009 ag Roddy Doyle agus Séan Love, is clár scríbhneoireachta cruthaitheach an-rathúil é Fighting Words a bhfuil sé mar aidhm aige cabhrú le páistí agus le daoine óga cumhacht a gcuid samhlaíochta agus scileanna scríbhneoireachta cruthaitheacha féin a aimsiú agus leas a bhaint as. Ag feidhmiú anois in áiteanna ar fud oileán na hÉireann, tá Fighting Words ag teacht ar ais go Dún na nGall

Agus draíocht na scríbhneoireachta á gcur i láthair do pháistí agus daoine óga, baineann Fighting Words le rud éigin i bhfad níos leithne agus níos cuimsithí freisin. Baineann sé le cleachtas cruthaitheach na scríbhneoireachta agus na scéalaíochta a úsáid chun ár bpáistí agus ár ndéagóirí a neartú le go mbeidh siad athléimneach, cruthaitheach agus ina gcruthaitheoirí rathúla ar a saol féin.

Conas a Oibríonn Sé?

Cuireann Fighting Words ceardlanna dhá uair an chloig ar fáil saor in aisce do ranganna páistí bunscoile. Tosaíonn an rang scéal mar ghrúpa agus scríobhann gach dalta a gcríoch aonair féin!

Cé atá in ann Obair Dheonach le Fighting Words?

Is féidir le duine ar bith a bheith ina theagascóir deonach Fighting Words - ó dhaltaí 3ú leibhéal go daoine atá ar scor agus gach duine eatarthu, is cuma cad a dhéanann tú (ní gá duit a bheith i do scríbhneoir nó i do mhúinteoir!).

Más maith leat a bheith ag obair i dtimpeallacht chruthaitheach agus gur éisteoir maith tú, tá fáilte romhat obair dheonach a dhéanamh. Tá obair dheonach solúbtha agus spraíúil, gan aon tiomantas íosta ag teastáil.
